Fall 2007 Board Meeting

The Fall Board Meeting of AAUW of GA included a workshop based on Our Iceberg is Melting by John Kotter.  As part of the workshop, state and branch leaders were asked to vote with their feet to answer the question, "Do we feel a sense of urgency?"  When asked to stand next to one of four statements printed on posters:

Thirteen voted for "We must change our emphases and/or methods because they are outdated and don't serve the mission." Six voted for "We may need to change our emphases and/or methods to grow." One voted for "All we need to do is work harder to get new members." No one voted for "No change, business as usual."

The picture shows those who voted for the first option.  Note, Lynn Fountain and Pat DeWitt did not vote.  Had they voted, they would have concurred with "We must change our emphases and/or methods . . . "

After the meeting, Pat DeWitt typed up the comments during the workshop session.  Please click here to see her first take on a vision for AAUW of GA and for action items discussed in groups.  We will build on this workshop at the AAUW of GA State Convention, April 2-3, 2008.
